Round baling developing in new markets

09.03.2011

The round bale conquered the northern part of Europe long time ago. It's of interest to see how the round baling method is developing in other parts of the world. During the past 2-3 years, Orkel has supplied grass balers as well as MP 2000 compactors to a number of markets, for baling different kinds of materials. The feedback is in line with most markets: "Dense bales - high durability of the machines".

Logistics - of growing importance.

Increasing raw material prices are changing the markets. Traditionally, the grass was the "farmers product". The farmer was harvesting, and feeding his animals. This is in progress of changing. The possibility of storing and transporting of forage, and  a number of other materials, in round bales, is developing the material business into a "buying and selling" market. A number of Orkel customers have developed into being material suppliers, selling their products to different customer groups. An essential point in such a value chain is the reliability of the technology. Many contractors are doing 100.000 bales a year, demanding a durability accordingly. In this point, we have a good track record. A quality product is normally the "cheapest" one.
