Orkel quality - appreciated in Japan

19.10.2010

The Orkel importer Cornes AG confirms the Orkel bales and products have achieved a special status in Japan.

Like the Norwegian market, Japan is a typical “high quality orientated” market. Bale weights, bale density and bale shape for safe bale handling and logistics is an important factor.

Cornes confirmes Orkel bales have a better density compared to competitors, by close to 20 %.

Orkel AS started export of round balers all back to late 1980 and early 1990.

2004, Orkel Compaction AS made the first supply of Orkel MP 2000 compactors to Japan.

So far, 6 MP machines are exported to Japan, basically for baling forage maize and forage mixes.

Contractors are baling for farmers in the northern island Hokkaido.

A forage producer is using the machine as a stationary unit, baling and selling forage mixing.

Year by year, business of bales is increasing. Driving factor is forage quality increasing the animal production, plus high degree of flexibility by applying bales.

Competitors have tried to make similar solutions, and cheaper, but the sales force of Cornes have no worries. “Over some time we have seen a very clear difference between the Orkel bales and from others, director K. Mino confirms. Further, Mino states that both bale shape and forage analyses show significant differences. The Orkel construction as well as stability is of its own standard. The products are all through high quality, which pays over time, a very pleased Mino confirms.

Orkel has had a cooperation with Cornes since late 80’s. At this time Orkel supplied GP 1200 balers to Japan. “Some of these are still in operation”, Mino says, “good stuff”.

Orkel is at present increasing the co-operation with Cornes, expecting a very positive development in Japan in the years to come.
